Fresno State quarterback Jake Heaner might have dreamt of playing a game in the Rose Bowl but he would have never thought that he would be the one making all the difference in the dying minutes of the game against UCLA on Saturday night.

Regardless of having taken a beating from the Bruins’ defense and struggling to even stand straight, Heaner led a 75-yard drive that ended with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Cropper, giving Fresno State an unforgettable 40-37 win over the 13th-ranked Bruins.

Going into the last minute it felt like the Bulldogs were set for a loss as UCLA scored and took a four-point lead with less than 60 seconds on the clock.

However, Heaner had different plans.

The No. 9 Bulldog hit 39-of-53 passes for 455 yards with two TDs and one INT before closing the night with the final throw to Cropper and dropping to his knees in dramatic fashion.

Haener completed 38 of 53 passes for Fresno State, finishing the job against a Pac-12 program after leading then-No. 11 Oregon in the fourth quarter two weeks ago before losing.

The Bruins only entered the rankings for the first time since 2017 last week and haven’t had a win as a ranked team since 2015.

Here are some of the many bewildered reactions from the game:

“This Jake Haener performance, when most of the country is sleeping, on a network most couldn’t see if they were awake, is Pure College Football.” – Sports Podcaster Tom Fornelli

“This is the greatest game I’ve ever seen!
Jake Haener is a man beast!

These PAC 12 announcers are the biggest homers.
They can’t figure out that FSU went AGAIN to the Rose Bowl and took care of business!
WHAT A GUTTY WIN!!” – PAGMETER
