American fashion designer Alexander Wang, on Friday, shot down the sexual assault claims made against him, saying that those have been ‘wrongfully amplified by social media account’. He also said that the claims had ‘zero evidence’ and lacked any ‘fact-checking,’ reported The Guardian.

According to media reports, a British model, Owen Mooney, publicly contended that Wang had groped him at a club in New York, back in 2017. And once Mooney opened the floodgates, victims, mostly anonymous, came forward with their story.

“Over the last few days, I have been on the receiving end of baseless and grotesquely false accusations. These claims have been wrongfully amplified by social media accounts infamous for posting defamatory material from undisclosed and/or anonymous sources with zero evidence or any fact-checking whatsoever,” Wang told the Guardian.

Mooney, 26, alleged that Wang’s action ‘made me freeze because I was in so much shock.’

Another victim, Gia Garison, a trans model and actor, said that Wang tried to undress her and expose her genitals in the VIP area.

The 37-year-old American fashion designer said that seeing the lies perpetuated as truth has been making him angry and that he intends to get to the bottom of the claims and hold the person accountable.

He further added that he would never conduct himself in an indecent manner in a public place.

This is not the first time Wang got himself in the eye of the storm. He was previously criticised for casting rapper R Kelly in a campaign.

R Kelly, at that time, was exposed as a serial sex predator and was facing multiple sex offence charges.
