A woman was killed and five others, including four children, were injured after a gunbattle broke out between two groups of men in Alabama’s Birmingham during an argument. Over 30 shots were fired during the shooting, which took place at Patton Park in Birmingham, according to police. 

According to a CNN report, the argument started around 7 pm on Sunday, and hundreds of people were at the park celebrating Easter when the shooting occurred, the police said in a statement. 

The woman, who died, was identified as Areyelle Yarbrough, 32, of Bessemer. She was found lying on the ground outside the passenger door of her car and was pronounced dead at the scene, the CNN report says.

The other five people, who were shot, are all “stable,” the police said. The four injured children range from age 5 to 17. 

“The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from an altercation amongst two groups of males which escalated to an exchange of gunfire in the crowded park,” said police, quoted CNN. According to evidence, police said that over “30 rounds were fired.”

As of now, no one has been arrested, and multiple people fired shots, believe the police. Witnesses have been asked to provide information by calling 205-254-7777.
