As soon as Hailey Bieber‘s skincare line dropped down, trouble started brewing for the model. Landing in a legal soup, know what the lawsuit is about?

The Canadian Pop star, Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, got into legal trouble because of its name. She has been sued under a trademark infringement case for the Rhode Skincare line launched earlier this month.

A lawsuit was filed against her by Purana Khatau and Phoebe Vicker, two of her former college roommates who created a line of clothing under the Rhode trademark. The lawsuit filed against her claims that she is trying to create marketing confusion by taking up the same name. According to the reports, the lawsuit was filed in the Manhattan federal court. The plaintiffs have asked the judge to impose trademark infringement and prevent Hailey from selling or marketing any products under the same name, Rhode.

Hailey recently launched her skincare line on social media and introduced the brand captioning “We are a line of curated skincare essentials made with thoughtful intention. our formulas nourish your skin barrier to instantly give you dewy, delicious skin while improving its look and feel over time.”

The model also appeared for an interview with Good Morning America where she also talked about her husband’s health issues and spoke about her link to the brand name. She explained the origin of the name, “The name came from, you know, obviously it’s my middle name..it’s also my mom’s middle name. So, I wanted there to be this tie-in to family lineage. I learned so much about skincare from my mom.”

The cofounders of the brand Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers filed the case stating that their brand has grown into a reputable luxury brand with their dedicated efforts. They also mentioned that the brand serves the style statements for celebrities like Beyonce, Rihanna, and Mindy Kaling. The lawsuit stated that Rhode is expected to make USD 14.5 million this year. The lawsuit plaintiffs said four years back Hailey tried to buy the rights to the name from them but they declined.

Justin Beiber is believed to have promoted her brand on his Instagram with 243 million followers, acquiring 1.5 million likes. Although, Hailey Biber has not reacted to the controversy running against the brand as of yet.
