The 30-scrip BSE Sensex closed 770.31 points or 1.29%
lower at 58,788.02. Similarly, the NSE Nifty slumped 219.80 points or 1.24% to
close at 17,560.20.

Among sectoral indices, except auto index, all other
indices ended in the red with oil & gas, IT realty, capital goods indices
losing 1-2%. BSE midcap and smallcap shredded 0.9% and 0.4%, respectively.

Here

HDFC: The
share dropped by 3.50% to close at Rs 2,521 after the company reported an 11.4%
year-on-year rise in net profit of Rs 3,260.7 crore for the quarter ended
December 2021, which is much higher than the market estimate of Rs 2,524.9
crore. Tax expenses were at Rs 787.5 crore as against Rs 826.7 crore in the
year-ago quarter.

Jubilant
Foodworks:
The stock dropped 2.98% or 98.25 points to close at Rs
3,203.35 after the firm reported a 7.5% increase in consolidated net profit at
Rs 133.20 crore as against Rs 123.92 crore in the year-ago period. The company
board also approved a stock split of 5:1. It reported a 13.2% rise in revenue
from operations at Rs 1,210.77 crore from Rs 1,069.28 crore in the same quarter
the previous year.

TV18
Broadcast Limited:
The share climbed 6.64% to close at Rs 65.00
following media reports that US telecom giant Comcast may join James Murdoch
and Uday Shankar in acquiring a stake in Viacom 18.

Zee
Entertainment:
The stock slumped 2.02% to ended at Rs
286.65% after the firm’s consolidated net profit dropped to Rs 298.98 crore for
the December quarter as against Rs 398.01 crore in the year-ago period.
According to the company’s BSE filing, total income during the quarter dropped
to Rs 2,130.44 crore as compared to Rs 2,756.93 crore in the corresponding
quarter of the previous year.

Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services: The
share dropped by 5.44% to close at Rs 159.80 after the company reported a fall
in on-quarter Q3 profit.
