Joe Biden was introduced as a “tough and honest man” by his children Ashley and Hunter, who appeared before his acceptance speech on the fourth day of DNC. This is the first time that Hunter and Ashley made an appearance at the Democratic National Convention.

Stating that Biden is an honest man, Ashley said, “We want to tell you what kind of president our dad will be. He’ll tell you the truth even when you don’t want to hear it.” Hunter said, Biden will be the strongest shoulder that one can lean on.

“He will never let you down. How do we know? He’s been that way our whole lives,” Hunter said.

“He has been a great father. And we think he’ll be a great president,” they concluded.

They finished on a note about their brother, saying that even after his death, “he is still very much alive in our hearts.” Biden’s late son Beau, who served as Delaware’s attorney general, had been a constant presence during the convention. In 2015, Beau died of Brain Cancer at the age of 46. Biden’s first wife, Neilia Hunter and their infant daughter Naomi, died in an auto crash in 1972 — weeks after Biden won his first race for the US Senate
