Former NFL running back Herschel Walker, a Republican, has lost to Democratic Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock in the Senate runoff election. Neither candidate had earlier managed to secure more than 50% of the votes in the midterm elections held in November.

Walker was born on March 3, 1962. He is currently 60 years old. He grew up in the city of Wrightsville in Georgia’s Johnson County.

Net worth
Herschel Walker was the wealthiest among all the candidates of the 2022 US Senate race. His estimated net worth, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, is around $29-$65 million.
The majority of his wealth comes from his days as an NFL running back. He also earns from his company, Renaissance Man Food Services, along with his services as a Veteran’s Mental Health Spokesperson, and through public speaking.
Marriages
Walker’s first marriage was in 1983 to Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, who was his college girlfriend. The former couple, who divorced in 2002, have a son called Christian.
In 2021, Walker married Julie Blanchard.
Children
The Republican candidate did not admit to having two more sons and a daughter besides Christian before the 2022 US Senate elections. When the news surfaced, he said that he had not done so in order to protect his family from the public glare.
Domestic abuse allegations
Walker had allegedly threatened his first wife, Cindy Grossman, with a firearm in 2001. According to a police report, Walker “talked about having a shoot-out with police”. A therapist spoke to the former NFL running back to diffuse the situation.
Grossman, in her divorce filing, had said that Walker had indulged in “physically abusive and extremely threatening behavior.”

Walker was also accused by another woman called Myka Dean of threatening to “blow her head off” when she tried to end their on-and-off relationship.
Christian, the son of Walker and Grossman, wrote on Twitter in 2022, “You’re not a ‘family man’ when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence … how DARE YOU LIE and act as though you’re some ‘moral, Christian, upright man’ … You’ve lived a life of DESTROYING other peoples lives.”
