On Memorial Day, a gunfire between two groups left multiple people injured along a boardwalk in Hollywood, Florida, according to authorities, sending people hastily scurrying for safety.

The shooting in broad daylight resulted in at least nine injuries. According to CBS Miami, the event happened on Monday night in the vicinity of the 1200 block of N Broadwalk, with a 15-year-old victim and two more kids among the injured. The nine victims were brought to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Memorial Regional Hospital.

“Please avoid the area of Johnson to Garfield Streets, as well as the Broadwalk, due to an ongoing shooting investigation. Heavy police presence in the area. If you are looking to reunite with a family member, we have set up a reunification area at Johnson St and N Ocean bus loop,” tweeted Hollywood Police Department.

As pictures of the injured appeared, Mayor Josh Levy told WFOR-TV that paramedics had treated victims there. “Police are responding right now. We have victims treated by police and paramedics on scene and transported to the hospital,” Mr Levy told WFOR-TV. “It seemed like people might have gotten caught in the crossfire. But I can’t verify that.”

One of the accused has been taken into custody by the police. Police are looking for a second suspect, who they describe as a Black male with dreadlocks who was dressed in camouflage shorts and a black short sleeve shirt.

Following the shooting outside of Nicks Bar & Grill at around 7pm ET, witnesses uploaded horrifying videos of people running from the popular boardwalk.

According to preliminary investigations, two groups got into a fight that “resulted in gunfire,” Hollywood Police Department spokeswoman Deanna Bettineschi said during a press conference on Monday. The shooting victims’ ages and health have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.
