Following the classification of the Houthi rebels in Yemen as “terrorists” by the US, the group warned on Tuesday that they will respond to any action taken against them.
The Houthis said, “We are ready to take all necessary measures against any hostile act.”
Just days before leaving office,the administration of US President Donald Trump announced the classification of the Iran-backed rebel group.

Aid groups around the world along with United Nations had previously warned against the action.
The unrest in Yemen has already resulted in the displacement of millions of residents, tens of thousands of deaths and has pushed over 16 million people to the edge of deadly famine, according to the UN.
Due to the fear of US pressure and prosecution, the categorisation of the armed group, which controls a significant portion of northern Yemen, may result in the obstruction of transactions related to medical personnel, fuel, food and other major supplies.

In response to the label of “terrorists”, the Houthis called the US “criminal terrorists”.
The Houthis have been in a hostile tussle with US-backed Saudi Arabia, with millions of people relying on humanitarian aid for their survival.
