Hillary Clinton, even at the age of 73, continues to draw attention to her sense of style. The former US Secretary of State recently transported social media users back in time with a flashback photo, giving them a peek of her younger self.

Hillary posted a photo of herself on the cover of a 1998 Vogue issue on Instagram. The photo, taken by Annie Leibovitz, depicts the politician sitting on a couch in a velvet gown.

Take a look for yourself:

It turns out that it was Oscar de la Renta who had persuaded Anna Wintour of Vogue to feature Hillary on the December 1998 cover, making her the first First Lady to do so.

In an interview with Haute Living, de la Renta stated, “I was able to convince Anna to put her on the cover. I did a lot to define to the viewer who Hillary actually is.”

He added, “[The cover shot] was taken when she was still in the White House. I do remember at the time her advisers weren’t sure if it was the right thing to do, but in the end, she said, ‘Oscar, you have a great instinct about me. Let’s do it’.”

He went on to say that the attire she wore on the cover was designed by him.
