Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old Ph.D. student who is suspected of
stabbing 4 university students will be presented in court on January 12, 2023.

Although no live streaming or live tweeting of the trial will be
permitted this time, video recording of Kohberger’s hearing will be allowed,
and people can have access to the recording on NewsNation just after the trial.

Emmy award-winning journalist and NewsNation’s correspondent in
Miami took to Twitter and informed, “Bryan Kohberger hearing set to start here at 8am local time / 11am
eastern time. Video recording is allowed in the courtroom — but we are not
allowed to live stream it, so we will have the recording for you on @NewsNation
right after the hearing.”

He also tweeted, “It is a status
hearing and we are told it will be short and mainly focused on scheduling.”

Kohberger will be presented for a
status hearing in an Idaho court. Bryan Kohberger is expected to appear in court
at 11 a.m. ET. The hearing will mainly focus on scheduling and setting up further
court dates. He might even be given the choice of waiving his right to a speedy
trial.

The public defender Jason LaBar who represented him in
Pennysylvania said that Kohberger is “eager to be exonerated.”

If the judge is convinced, she will
be sending the case to the 2nd District Court of Idaho. Kohberger
will then have a chance to enter a plea. If he enters a guilty plea, a sentence
hearing will be scheduled whereas if he enters a not-guilty plea, his case will
go to trial.
