A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between the Earth and the sun, blocking the rays of the sun. Several parts of the world, including the United Stated, United Kingdom, Russia, Indonesia and Canada witnessed a partial solar eclipse on Thursday. Though solar eclipses last only a couple of minutes, people are usually advised to never look directly at the sun, even if the sun is partly or mostly obscured.
