Even though the motive behind the incident is still being investigated by law enforcement authorities, the FBI office of Indianapolis said in a statement quoting Hole’s mother that the suspect wanted to “commit suicide by cop” in 2020, reported CNN.

FBI conducted an interview with Hole in April 2020, which found ‘No Racially Motivated Violent Extremism’ ideology.

CNN reported that the US had witnessed at least 147 mass shooting episodes this year, quoting the data released by ‘The Gun Violence Archive.’ These are likely to include the shootings in Atlanta, South Carolina and Boulder.

Even though federal efforts of reforming the gun laws in the country seem to be underway, gun violence-related incidents have witnessed a significant spike in the US.
