On the afternoon of January 6, 2021, a group of supporters of former United States President Donald Trump rammed their way into the US Capitol in Washington DC to stop the certification of the election results. The angry mob managed to get past the security and enter the building, looting offices of several US representatives, including that of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. It took close to four hours for the security personnel to clear the protestors and secure the building. Five people, including a police officer, died during or after the attack.
