Dr Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, featured on the cover of Vogue magazine for the August edition. According to a leading media website, her being on the cover is a statement of both optimism and rebuke. For the record, Jill Biden‘s predecessor was never clicked by the magazine during her tenure in the White House.

Jill, on the cover, is wearing a long-sleeve, dark floral dress from the New York-based label Oscar de la Renta. This dress is from an American brand that has been donned by many first ladies.

The look of the first lady is simple and classy. She opted for earrings by Tiffany & Co. Her hair appears to be in waves with help from Sally Hershberger, Indian Express reported.

She stands on a White House balcony with the Washington Monument rising in the distance.

Reportedly, she is only the third occupant of the East Wing to appear on the cover of Vogue. Before her, Hillary Clinton was the first presidential spouse on the cover in 1998 and the occasion celebrated her dignity in the face of her husband’s impeachment.

In her Vogue interview, the first lady said it was “kind of surprising” that her fashion choices should spark conversation.

On inauguration day in January, Biden wore a turquoise coat, dress and gloves. Guardian reported that she told Vogue that she does not work with a stylist.

US vice-president Kamala Harris featured on the cover of Vogue’s February issue. The image was criticised for its lighting and alleged lack of respect.
