Kellyanne Conway, the former counsellor to White House, on Friday night said that she has tested positive for coronavirus. Conway, who had announced her resignation from White House in late August, said she has mild symptoms and has begun the process to quarantine herself.

Her announcement comes a day after US President Donald Trump said he and his wife, first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus. Conway had attended a Rose Garden event in the White House last week, where the US President had nominated judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

“Tonight I tested positive for COVID-19. My symptoms are mild (light cough) and I’m feeling fine. I have begun a quarantine process in consultation with physicians.

As always, my heart is with everyone affected by this global pandemic,” Conway said in a tweet.

Conway is the sixth person to test positive for the coronavirus, who attended the Rose Garden event last week. Earlier, apart from the US President and the first lady, Trump’s top aide Hope Hicks, Republican Utah Senator Mike Lee, Republican North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis, and University of Notre Dame President the Rev. John Jenkins had tested positive for the virus.

Trump was flown to the Walter Reed military hospital outside Washington on Friday and has been hospitalised in an intense effort to make sure the president’s reportedly “mild” symptoms do not deteriorate.
