A Swastika flag was allegedly found inside the U-Haul truck that crashed at Lafayette Square near the White House on Monday. There were no immediate reports of injuries and the driver has been detained, as per the Secret Service’s statement to WUSA 9.

As soon as the truck rammed into a fence of the seven-acre public park, social media users spotted a Nazi Swastika flag on the ground.

“The secret service has just pulled what appears to be a swastika flag from the cab of a U Haul truck that rammed the fence at Lafayette Square in front of the White House,” Twitter breaking News handle RAW Alerts reported.

There is no official statement on the Nazi flag and the driver has not been identified yet.

The box truck crash led to the evacuation of at least one nearby hotel, media reports added. The truck rammed into the security barrier at 10 AM. It is right across the president’s home, WUSA 9 quoted the Secret Service.

The Secret Service is leading the investigation. In a statement to the New York Post, Metro DC Police said: “Shortly before 10:00 p.m. Monday, Secret Service Uniformed Division officers detained the driver of a box truck after the vehicle collided with security barriers on the north side of Lafayette Square on 16th Street.”

“There were no injuries to any Secret Service or White House personnel and the cause and manner of the crash remain under investigation. Road closures are in effect and pedestrian walkways are closed as we investigate.”

“What appears to be a Nazi flag was just pulled from the cab of a U Haul truck that rammed the fence at Lafayette Square in front of the White House,” a Twitter user posted with a video of the U Haul truck.

“Yes, very normal. Police often pull evidence out of terrorist trucks and lay them out neatly in clear view of the media to record their every move. Police do this all the time. What appears to be a Nazi flag was just pulled from the cab of a U Haul truck that rammed the fence…” another one added.

“white house attacked by white supremacist with nazi and swastika gear. He smashed a U haul into the white house gate and bomb squad surrounded the truck,” a third one tweeted.
