Shooting incidents and gun violence in the United States are nothing new but Americans were still left shocked on Saturday night, September 4, 2022, when reports emerged of a shooting in popular rapper Lil Baby’s concert in Greenville, South Carolina.

The shooting was first reported on Twitter when several attendees posted about the incident. Lil Baby was performing at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina when the shooting incident took place.

As per the initial information, rapper Lil Baby, who has a history of dealing drugs and serving prison sentences in the past, was performing at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, when sounds of gunfire were first heard. The concert was attended by many of his fans, including children and Twitter users condemned the incident that left the young fans in harm’s way.

The Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina is also the home of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, a hockey team that competes in the south division of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference league.

The arena hosted Lil Baby’s concert on Saturday, September 3, 2022, and specified their security measures on the event page on their website.

The arena authorities asked the audience to “arrive early and travel light” and informed them that everyone will be subject to frisking and search with metal detectors when they enter.

They also listed several prohibited objects inside the arena, which are weapons, glass, cans, fireworks, backpacks/large bags and laser pins. The authorities also added that any item that could be used as a projectile like glow sticks and balls was also not allowed inside the arena.

Flammable liquids, Illegal Drugs/Substances, pepper spray, mace and flares were also prohibited by the arena authorities ahead of Lil Baby’s concert on Saturday night.

According to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena website, if any of the banned items were found during the search upon entry, the audience could either dispose of those items or return them to their vehicles. The website also stated that arena authorities do take care of any personal objects for the guests.
