Lori Daybell, 49, is set to face trial on April 3 this year. The trial results from the murder of her two children, JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan.
The case is complicated and takes place over a long period. Here is a timeline to help understand the events that transpired better.

2006 – 2014
Everything was happy and normal around this time. Lori was married to Charles Vallow, a businessman. The marriage was comfortable, and together they were raising Lori’s children from a previous marriage, Tylee Reid and Colby. Charles was Lori’s fourth husband.
In 2014, Lori and Charles adopted JJ Vallow. Joshua “JJ” Vallow was the grandson of Charles’ sister.

2017
In 2017, something within the Vallow family changed, especially concerning Lori’s behavior. According to records, during this time, she began reading books by a doomsday author named Charles Daybell. In his books, he emphasized a lot on the end of the world. Daybell was a married man living in Rexburg, Idaho, with his wife Tammy Daybell and 5 children.
2018
By 2018, Lori and Chad had already met up, and they made appearances on various podcasts such as the “Time to Warrior Up” by Preparing a People Podcast.
As per witness reports, during this time, Lori began talking about the end of the world and referred to Charles Vallow as a demon.
2019
Growing increasingly concerned about Lori’s mental health, Charles Vallow appealed to the police with his concerns. He had clearly stated that he worried for his life and the safety of his children. However, Lori Vallow was cleared of any such issues. Following this, the Vallow couple divorced.
In July of that year, Charles was shot to death in Arizona, where he was visiting Lori Vallow’s house, where she lived with her children and brother. Lori’s brother, Alex Cox, shot and killed Charles Vallow out of self-defense.
In September, Lori Vallow moved her children to Rexburg, Idaho, in an apartment complex closer to Chad Daybell. Alex Cox was also living with them. On September 8 Lori, her brother, and her two children visited Yellowstone National Park. After this date, Tylee Reid was never seen again.

Cell Phone records showed that Alex Cox was placed in Chad Daybell’s Backyard the following day, where he spent 2 hours. Chad also texted his wife, saying he had killed a raccoon that day and buried it in their backyard.
On 22nd September, Joshua Vallow was taken away from their Idaho apartment by Cox after Lori said that he was behaving like a zombie. This was the last possible sighting of JJ Vallow. The day after, Cox was again placed in Daybell’s backyard.

Following the two vanishings, Tammy Daybell, Chad’s wife, was declared dead in her bed. Coroner reports indicated that she died of natural causes.
Chad and Lori got married on 5th November in Hawaii. Growing concerned about her grandson, JJ Vallow’s grandmother asked the police to conduct a welfare check on him. Lori lied to the police that JJ was in Arizona with her friend.
Soon police found out that both JJ and Tylee were missing and started a nationwide manhunt for the missing children. Suspiciously, Lori and Chad traveled back to Hawaii instead of helping the police.
2020
Lori Vallow was ordered to produce her two children before the court. After failing to do so, she was arrested and taken to Idaho.
In June, authorities began investigating the Daybell residence and discovered the bodies of Tylee and JJ buried in the backyard.

In May, both Lori and Chad Daybell were charged with the first-degree murder of their children.
2021
Chad Daybell entered a not-guilty plea to all charges. Meanwhile, Lori Vallow was considered incompetent to stand trial. Daybell is currently awaiting trial.

2022
Lori Vallow was declared fit to stand trial. At the St. Anthony Court, she pleaded not guilty to all charges.
On May 4, it was declared that Lori Vallow could face the death penalty. However, after the declaration of her trial date, the judge ruled in favor of the defense team and declared that if found guilty, Lori Vallow Daybell would not face the death penalty.
