‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’, a show on Fox Business, was pulled on Friday
night by the network as the host was named in a defamation lawsuit against Fox
by Smartmatic.

The show was cancelled a day after Smartmatic’s defamation
move, seeking damages of $2.7 billion in the suit aimed towards both Fox Corporation as well as Fox News.

‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’, perceived significantly as catering to
the right wing, was popular among many and reportedly was mentioned in one of
the statements from former US president Donald Trump after leaving White House,
who praised Dobbs, saying the latter “is and was great. Nobody loves America
more than Lou”.

The lawsuit includes names of Dobbs as well as other hosts on
the network, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro, even though it specifically
cites Dobbs’ show.

Several people took to Twitter to express their satisfaction
in the incident, pointing out at the same time other such shows like Bartiromo’s
‘Mornings with Maria’ and Pirro’s ‘Justice with Judge Jeanine’ should get the axe as well.

“So Fox cancelled Lou Dobbs. They literally cancelled him.
You can’t make this stuff up”, tweeted Mehdi Hasan, host to NBC’s The Mehdi
Hasan Show.

Many on the other hand focussed on Sean Hannity, Tucker
Carlson and Laura Ingraham as a possible next batch to face a similar blow.

“Saw Sean Hannity and thought Fox had fired him. He’s kinda
Lou Dobbs light”, tweeted actor Matthew Modine about the issue.

Fox News, while known to have a standard conservative
viewpoint itself, was reportedly considering action against Dobbs even before
the occurrence of the lawsuit.
