After climbing a TV tower on Tuesday while holding a “Free Billie Eilish” placard, a man forced the closure of Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard for more than three hours.

The unidentified man played his guitar while spectators watched from below as he ascended the 162-foot tower of California news station KTLA, according to the site.

Even though he only managed to climb 30 feet up the tower, the musical “protester” was ultimately hauled down and then detained by police shortly after midnight (PST).

In an effort to bring the man down safely, the Los Angeles Fire Department put a sizable inflatable airbag below the tower, as shown in social media footage.

The individual has reportedly been referred to by authorities as a “protestor,” however it is unclear what he was protesting. Additionally, the man was holding a white sheet with black writing that stated, “MK ultra sex slaves donald marshall clones.”

As a result of the incident, traffic around the TV tower came to a complete stop, and police blocked off nearby roads.

As officials begged the man to leave, power was also cut to the tower. According to CBS 8 producer Malik Earnest, the man was detained on trespassing charges.

The hashtag “Free Billie Eilish” has been trending on Twitter since the incident, although several supporters were perplexed by the man’s remarks about the 21-year-old “Bad Guy” singer.

The message’s meaning is ambiguous, but that hasn’t prevented it from trending on Twitter.

Eilish is not confined. She did, in fact, sort of make a comeback earlier this month when she contributed vocals to Labrinth’s “Never Felt So Alone,” and she followed that up by playing alongside the British musician at the Mojave Tent of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The Bad Guy singer has released two full-length albums, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? from 2019 and Happier Than Ever from 2021, both of which topped charts worldwide.

Along the way, she made history by becoming the second artist in Grammy Awards history to win all four of the Big Four categories and the youngest artist to write and record a James Bond theme, “No Time to Die,” at the age of just 18.

The seven-time Grammy winner, who made an appearance on James Corden’s Late Late Show earlier in the day, is not currently facing any legal issues and has not commented on the strange incident.
