Authorities are investigating multiple shootings in Manistee, northern Michigan on Friday. The crime scenes are at 5th Street and Hancock Street; 8th Street and Kosciusko Street; the 300 block of 2nd Street; and 9th Street and Vine Street.
At least two people have been left injured, city officials said. The suspect, not identified yet, is still at large. Police, however, said that there were “no threats to the public at this time” after earlier warning residents to stay indoors.

Police added they were looking for a suspect described as a tall, black male with a thin build and dreadlocks.
“Again, this is an active investigation, and we ask the public to avoid the mentioned areas until further notice. Also, please avoid calling 911 unless you have direct information on this investigation,” an initial statement read.

The city of Mainstee, in an update on social media, said that the police, county sheriff and other law enforcement agencies were working on the shootings.
“Again, this is an active investigation and we ask the public to avoid the mentioned areas until further notice. Also, please avoid calling 911 unless you have direct information on this investigation. There will be a news release at approximately 5 pm or as new information becomes available,” the update read.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a state trooper was shot Friday morning on Interstate 88.
The shooting happened at 11:16 a.m., according to State Police. The trooper was conducting traffic check when he was struck. The gun was shot from inside a car. He is stable.
One individual was brought into jail, according to a person familiar with the incident, but police were still looking for a second person.
