Mass shooting in downtown Renton, Washington, early Saturday morning, has left at least one person dead and five others injured.

Officers responded to the scene just before 1am on Sunday after receiving reports of gunshots being fired. The responding officers located multiple victims. While one person was pronounced dead, five others were treated by emergency personnel on the scene, CNN reported, quoting Renton police spokesperson Sandra Havlik said.

“Just before 1 am officers were called to the 100 block of Logan Ave S for multiple shots fired. Ofcrs. arrived 2 find multiple victims. 5 victims were treated @ the scene by Fire/Medics & we can confirm one fatality,” Renton Police Department tweeted.

Police believe a “dispute” among people at a “large gathering” may have triggered the shooting. 

Investigation into the incident was ongoing and no suspect has been taken into custody.

Authorities believe the shooting may have also involved multiple gunmen.

The residents were asked to avoid the area as it is still an active scene, Fox News reported. 

“Initial investigation indicates this was a dispute outside of a large gathering/event which led to gunfire, possibly by more than one suspect. Due to the large crowd, multiple agencies were called in to assist. This is an active scene still & investigation will be ongoing,” Renton Police Department tweeted.
