A massive fire continues to burn down a grocery store in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire early Tuesday. 

Multiple firefighting crews remained on the scene battling the blaze as black smoke could be seen billowing out of Hunter’s Shop ‘n Save on South Main Street, right across from Lake Winnipesaukee Monday night.

Shortly after 9:15 p.m. when the fire continued to burn out of control, crews from more than 10 towns responded to the call. Wolfeboro Town Hall is also located in the area.

According to witnesses at the scene, the front of the building was engulfed in flames. According to the Wolfeboro fire chief, no one was in the building when the fire started and there are no injuries. 

The store usually closes at 8 pm every day. It employs about 70 people, the manager told News 9. According to Hunters’ website, it is a family-owned, independent grocery store located directly across from the marina on Lake Winnipesauke. It offers “friendly, neighborhood service with supermarket prices.”

Discoloration in the water can be noticed by some people in the area, the Wolfeboro Fire chief said. In case residents come across a particular water problem, the chief suggested getting in touch with the water department. 

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
