Matt Taibbi refused to concede after Texas Representative Sylvia Garcia demanded to reveal the sources for “Twitter Files.” The Democratic Party representative referred to him and Michael Shellenberger, the “Twitter Files” reporters  as “so-called journalists.”

Matt Tibbi was born on March 2, 1970, in New Brunswick, New Jersey to father Mike Taibbi and mother Siobhan Walsh. Mike was an NBC television reporter. Mike was mixed of Filipino and Native Hawaiian descent and was adopted by an Italian-American couple.

Tibbi is currently 53 years old. He was raised in Boston mainly by his mother as his parents separated when he was young. He was sent to Concord Academy for behavioural and academic improvement. He graduated from Bard College in 1992. He finished his graduation credits from Bard while studying abroad at Leningrad Polytechnic University in Saint Petersburg.

He was living in Jersey City, New Jersey until 2021. As of now, he lives in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. In an interview with Hemant Mehta for Patheos in 2008, Taibbi called himself an “atheist.”

Matt Taibbi started his career in journalism in the early 1990s when he moved to Tashkent, Uzbekistan from Saint Petersburg, Russia. Later in 2002, he returned to the United States and started he satirical bi-weekly The Beast.

In the year 2008, Taibbi got the National Magazine Award in the category “Columns and Commentary” for his Rolling Stone columns. He also received a Sidney Award in 2009 for his article “The Great American Bubble Machine”.
