American conservative columnist and TV personality Meghan McCain will be parting ways with ABC’s daytime show %u2018The View,%u2019 after nearly four years, Variety reported.

The co-host and the panel’s resident conservative talking head is likely to quit at the end of the show’s current season this summer, the report added. McCain has been a permanent hos of %u2018The View%u2019 since 2017. However, there is no official statement from McCain or ABC. 

Meghan McCain has currently been part of the panel of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines. As the conservative talking head, she was often seen quarreling with her co-hosts, on and off-camera.

McCain will announce her departure on Thursday%u2019s program, a source told Variety. According to the reports, the on-set rumblings have nothing to do with her decision. Earlier this summer, McCain had approached ABC executives to ask to be released from her deal because she does not want to move back to New York City. 

Meghan McCain, with her husband, political commentator Ben Domenech and daughter Liberty, moved to  Washington D.C. during the pandemic.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, %u2018The View%u2019 was shot in New York but the co-hosts have worked remotely after the lockdown. 

Meghan McCain is %u2018The View’s’ second-longest-running conservative co-host. Only Elisabeth Hasslebeck, who appeared on the show from 2003-2013, has stayed longer. 

%u2018The View%u2019 was created by Barbara Walters in 1997.

Describing herself as a Republican with liberal views, McCain has been an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. She has widely spoken about anti-Semitism around the world. She also criticized former US President and the Republican candidate in the 2020 election Donald Trump. She supported the impeachment of Trump too.
