Meher Tatna is a Mumbai-born journalist who is currently the Board Chair of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association(HFPA), which hosts Golden Globes Awards. On the evening of the award ceremony, she and other leaders of the association pledged to bring more representation on their board. They had faced serious flack in the past for not having any black member on the voting board.

Meher Tatna, who is also the former president of the organisation, appeared on the show wearing a saree – thereby making a strong statement about her roots. In her speech, she promised to bring representation to the board. She said that the association,” must also ensure everyone from all underrepresented communities gets a seat at our table”

She reiterated that they must strive to create an environment where diversity is the norm and not the exception.

Apart from her, vice president of the association, Helen Hoehne also said that there must be a representation on their board just like any film or show. She insisted that their board must have black journalists.

Recently when the news came out that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association lacks diversity, it faced wide criticism from the industry. Meher Tatna had also revealed a few years back there has not been a black member on the board since the last 20 years.
