An active shooting was reported in Tennessee‘s Memphis, which has reportedly injured multiple people. Media reports suggest the incident happened the Thursday afternoon.
“Memphis Police Officers are on the scene of a shooting at Kroger located at 240 New Byhalia Road in Collierville, TN to support Collierville PD. MPD is assisting with securing the perimeter and scene”, the police department said in a tweet.

Here is what we know so far about the incident:
-At least one person has been killed while 13 others have been shot, according to media reports citing Dale Lane, the Collierville Police Chief
-The suspected shooter is dead, possibly from self-inflicted gunshot wounds
-The shooting was reported inside a Kroger grocery store located in Collierville’s Byhalia and Poplar Avenue
-Authorities confirmed that the incident was an active shooter situation, according to reports from CBS
-Witness accounts suggest that at least a dozen shots were fired at the site. Employees of the Kroger store took shelter in the cooler while some customers made it out of the store
-Police SWAT team and other officers went aisle to aisle in the store to find people who sought cover or were in hiding, removing them to safety
-The identities of the shooter and the victims were not immediately released
-Multiple ambulances were seen entering Regional One Hospital, a regional trauma center

Lane said it was a sad day for his department as he spoke at a news conference after the shooting near the scene. “I have been involved in this for 34 years and I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said, according to Associated Press reports.
He added investigators are working to sort out what happened, adding, “It is going to take a little bit before we know what happened.”

Out of the 13 people who were injured in Thursday’s shooting, 12 were taken to the hospital.
