Video of a physical ‘altercation’ that took place in the Miami-Dade County youth fair on Saturday went viral after false reports of a shooting spread like a wildfire across social media. The video has been viewed thousands of times on Twitter, where a group of men was seen running around the fair as they beat up another man.

Against a backdrop of fair rides, a group of men was seen pushing, shoving, and punching the unidentified man in the video.

As a result of the false reports, panic ensued Saturday night at the youth fair, sparking a stampede that left multiple people with minor injuries. It also prompted a large police presence. “We are aware of reports of an incident at @miamiyouthfair. There is no credibility to these reports or threats to public safety. As always, we remind our residents to remain vigilant. If you see something, say something. For emergencies dial 9-1-1 immediately,” the Miami-Dade police tweeted.’

Several social media users said that they were at the fair and heard shots. “There was a shooting at the Miami fair. I was there with friends. We saw people running. There were gunshots by the time we were out. We’re safe. I’m mildly injured. Cops everywhere. Ubering home. I’m safe. We’re safe,” one Twitter user, who was at the scene, said. “why do people gotta ruin shit with guns. shooting down at miami youth fair people running out and crying,” a Twitter user said.

The initial reports said multiple shots were fired at the Fair Expo Center located at 10901 SW 24th St, Miami, Florida. “At the time of this reports, law enforcement agencies has not specified if this is an active shooter incident or a random shots fired. Unconfirmed reports alleged that multiple persons has been injured as a suspect fired shots following an altercations at the Youth Fair,” the report further added.
