Former Vice President Mike Pence’s 2024 campaign is seizing the opportunity to turn a quote from the latest federal indictment against Donald Trump into merchandise. Pence’s campaign is selling T-shirts and hats emblazoned with the phrase “Too honest,” referencing a key moment in the indictment where Trump berated Pence for not supporting his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
The 45-page indictment highlighted a call on January 1, 2021, during which Trump pressured Pence to reject electoral votes and rule in his favor. When Pence explained that there was no constitutional basis for such an action, Trump retorted, “You’re too honest.” This exchange was also recounted in Pence’s memoir released the previous year.
The new merchandise, reported by the Washington Examiner, will be made available later on Thursday. Pence, who is running against Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has been outspoken since the indictment was filed, firmly stating that he had no authority to overturn the election results. He has also argued that Trump’s disregard for the Constitution should disqualify him from seeking another term in the White House.
During a speech at the Indiana State Fair, Pence emphasized his commitment to upholding American history and the rule of law, rejecting the notion that he could determine which votes to accept or reject. He blamed Trump’s legal advisors for misleading him with false information, catering to his desires.

While Pence currently polls in the single digits among GOP primary voters and has yet to meet the donor requirement for the first debate, his campaign expects to fulfill the threshold shortly. As the 2024 presidential race unfolds, the merchandise release underscores the ongoing tension and competition between Pence and Trump within the Republican Party.
