Monterey Park mass shooting suspect has been identified as Huu Can Tran. The 72-year-old was found dead with a self-inflicted gun shot wound in a van, the Los Angeles County sheriff said on Sunday.
Tran fatally shot ten people and injured as many in the predominantly Asian American community where people were celebrating the Chinese New Year. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, speaking at an evening news conference, said that the motive remained unclear for the attack.

This means there have been more mass shootings this year than there have been days in 2023. As per Gun Violence Archive, a mass shooting is a shooting that injured or killed four or more people, not including the shooter.

Huu Can Tran had once been a regular presence in Southern California, even meeting his ex-wife there, according to three people who knew him, reported CNN.
Tran opened fire at Star Ballroom Dance Studio in the Los Angeles suburb of Monterey Park, on Saturday night, before shooting himself after a manhunt across the region on Sunday.
