Multiple explosions at a chemical plant in Georgia on Monday led to “uncontrolled fire” at the facility, according to police. Neighborhoods in southeastern Georgia, the Hickory Bluff area, and Sanctuary Cove subdivisions, which lie within one-kilometer radius of the plant have been asked to evacuate.

“The plant has been evacuated, and multiple explosions have been reported,” the sheriff’s office said in a response to the incident. “There is a multi-agency fire detail on scene with more en route.”

The cause of the fire is not known as of now. The Chemical Plant, according to the website, makes “inspiring fragrance, flavour, natural nutrition, and cosmetic ingredients solutions” for importers around the world.

Following the incident, Symrise issued to statement to Fox News in which it said: “Given first estimates, no one got injured and there is no danger to employees or residents. Local fire brigades and police fully control the situation on site. The fire occurred during the regular production hours for the manufacture of fragrance ingredients,” the statement added. Currently, Symrise has no reason to believe that the fire will cause additional health hazards to the local community.”

“If you are going to the shelter, please bring personal care items including medications, toiletries, and clothing for you and your family,” emergency management authorities said ina tweet. “Domesticated pets are allowed, but need to be in a kennel. Bring leashes, food, and medicine for pets.”

Glynn County government spokesperson Katie Baasen told the Associated Press in an email message that the fire has now been contained and the authorities are coordinating the evacuations.

She said that smoke hazards in the biggest concern at the moment, and the fire could potentially cause an explosion
