Eight people died in an incident of shooting in the city of Indianapolis late Thursday, reported AFP, referring to the police.

The Indianapolis Star reported multiple victims were found at a Fedex facility near the city’s international airport, citing a police release issued at 11.30pm local time. 

CNN reported police were working a “mass casualty situation”, citing a law enforcement spokesperson.

News agency AP reported a witness as saying that he saw a man with an a submachine gun firing in the open. 

Indianapolis State Police Sgt. John Perrine tweeted that the police is planning to make a statement at a nearby hotel.
