House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s husband Paul Pelosi was taken into custody in Napa County, California, on Saturday night for drunk driving after he was involved in a car crash, TMZ reported.

The 82-year-old has been charged with one count each of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher. His bail was set for $5,000 for the two misdemeanors.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene after receiving information about a 2-car crash. Paul was driving a 2021 Porsche when his vehicle was hit by a Jeep. No one was injured in the accident.

Nancy Pelosi is yet to make a statement on it.

Paul Pelosi is a San Francisco-born businessman who owns the venture capital investment and real estate company Financial Leasing Services.

After receiving an MBA degree from New York University, he married Nancy in 1963.

Nancy, on the other hand, has served in Congress for over 30 years and has led House Democrats since 2003.

The 81-year-old was recently in the news after Salvatore Cordileone, the archbishop of San Francisco, denied her Communion over her support of abortion rights.

He released a letter in which he wrote, “I have determined that the point has come in which I must make a public declaration that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion unless and until she publicly repudiates her support for abortion ‘rights’ and confess and receive absolution for her cooperation in this evil in the sacrament of Penance.”

He went on to say that he gets “no pleasure whatsoever in fulfilling my pastoral duty” and that his decision “is purely pastoral, not political.”
