LeBron James had done most to raise awareness on voting in the United States of America, according to a new survey conducted by Whitman Insight Strategies and MRC Data along with DISQO measuring the intersection of entertainment, influence and politics among 1,103 probable voters,
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the survey also stated NBA star LeBron James is doing the most to raise awareness and motivation around voting in the general populace and among GenZ voters.
According to the polls, Tom Hanks, Dwayne Johnson, Oprah Winfrey, and LeBron James are the leading celebrities, who have the most trusted opinions on political and social issues, reported The Hollywood Reporter citing the survey.
The survey polled a total 1,103 respondents, 48% of whom were male and the remaining female. The survey, which was conducted across the length and breadth of the country, was done between October 8 and 13, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
The organisers of the survey questioned voters on whose opinion they trusted most and also urged them to name the issues they wanted celebrities to address.
Among the voter pool, 12% stated that their views were in some way or form moulded by an entertainer or an athlete. Influence was higher amongst black voters, of whom 28%, hispanic voters of whom 20% and LGBTQ voters of whom 17% were influenced by the thinking of athletes or entertainers.
When bifurcated among party lines Democratic were more impressionable with 17% being influenced by entertainers and athletes, while only 9% Republicans were guided by performers.
Among all voters, 36% stated that LeBron James had done the most to raise awareness for voting, while Taylor Swift was placed second with 13% and Dwayne Johnson came in third.
James, Swift, Beyonce, and Cardi B all swayed the opinions of Gen Z voters. Swift’s sway among voters comes in a year when she has been using her stature to speak out vociferously ahead of the election.
Asked about celebrities who mould the opinion of citizens on social and political issues, Tom Hanks emerged as the favourite with 49% of the voters and with Dwayne Johnson coming a close second. Among the 1,103 odd voters, people leaning Democrat were swayed by Oprah Winfrey’s opinion, as 55% of them trusted her to raise her voice on social and political issues.
