With three passing touchdowns and one more on the ground from Sam Hartman, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons beat the Boston College Eagles 41-10 on Saturday to earn a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game.

When the Demon Deacons (10-2, 7-1 ACC) meet No. 20 Pittsburgh on December 4, they will try to win their first conference title since 2006.

Midway through the first quarter, Hartman ran it in from 7 yards out, and a 33-yard throw to A.T. Perry made it 14-0. When Brandon Sebastian intercepted Hartman in the end zone late in the second quarter, BC went three-and-out, and Wake Forest scored on Hartman’s 7-yard throw to Perry shortly before halftime.

BC (6-6, 2-6) started the third quarter with three straight three-and-outs and an interception, while Wake Forest expanded their advantage to 34-10 with a field goal and a 3-yard run by Christian Turner.

Hartman threw for 236 yards on 20 of 32 passes and 51 yards on 11 carries. Perry had four receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Phil Jurkovec was 3 for 11 passing for 19 yards and two interceptions, but he also led the Eagles in running with 66 yards.

With the victory, the Demon Deacons have snapped Clemson Tigers’ streak of six straight Atlantic Division titles. They have only appeared in the ACC championship game once, beating Georgia Tech in 2006.

Meanwhile, the Eagles lost four straight games after Jurkovec sustained what was initially thought to be a season-ending wrist injury. Even after he returned, though, BC went 2-2. The team did not beat anyone with a winning record all season.
