A father is facing murder charges after reportedly telling officers that he beat his kid to death because he didn’t like the TV show the child was watching. Gerald Oglesby, 33, has been accused of the death of his 5-year-old son, General Sema’j Oglesby. According to reports, the infant was discovered dead at 1:30 a.m. on March 16.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Gerald confessed to police to hit the youngster, claiming he whipped the five-year-old repeatedly with an electrical cord. Then he struck General in the stomach, which proved deadly. Gerald allegedly caused the boy’s chin to rip open and bleed during the initial whippings.

“Gerald claimed that he realised he punched (the boy) too hard as soon as he smacked him in the belly,” police noted in the arrest report.

The youngster, who was having difficulty walking at the time, then vomited on the couch. His respiration eventually ceased.

Gerald allegedly performed chest compressions but did not immediately dial 911. When he called 911, he stated that General had not taken a breath in 13 minutes.

According to the investigation, “Gerald did not phone the paramedics or anybody else to see if he might obtain some help.” Instead, he went beside the kid, “rubbing his body for comfort.”

“Gerald stated that he did not want to lose custody of (his son), thus he opted not to contact for assistance,” police noted.

According to the arrest report, he then smoked a marijuana cigarette and dialled 911.

Gerald allegedly refused to do CPR on his son when emergency dispatchers told him to do so, according to the report. Gerald has been charged with one count of murder and is being held in Henderson, according to reports.
