New England Patriots galloped to their sixth straight win with a 36-13 hammering of the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Quarterback Mac Jones starred with two touchdown passes while the Patriots defence forced four turnovers

The win ended the Patriots’ two-game losing streak against the Titans. Since former Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel came over as coach in 2018, the Patriots have not beaten Tennessee. This season, New England (8-4) is 6-1 versus AFC opponents.

Jones threw for 310 yards on 23 of 32 attempts. Both of the Patriots’ touchdown receptions came from Kendrick Bourne, who finished with five catches for 61 yards.

The Titans (8-4) hung in there early, but were unable to overcome a slew of mistakes, including three fumbles by their running backs and an interception by Ryan Tannehill. He threw for 93 yards and a score on 11 of 21 passing.

The Titans’ rushing assault had mixed results as they played without star Derrick Henry for the fourth consecutive week.

Other than Henry, Dontrell Hilliard and D’Onta Foreman are the first Tennessee backs to carry for 100 yards since 2018. Hilliard rushed 12 times for 131 yards and a 68-yard touchdown. But he also had a turnover in the second quarter that led to a field goal for the Patriots.

Foreman gained 109 yards on 19 carries, including a 34-yard run in the third quarter. But that, too, ended in a turnover as J.C. Jackson stripped him from behind.

Tennessee was driving in the second quarter, behind 13-6, when Davon Godchaux stripped Hilliard, allowing the ball to float loose. It was intercepted by Kyle Dugger, giving the Patriots again another short field.

Jones missed a wide-open Hunter Henry just outside the end zone with a chance to convert the fumble into a score. Nick Folk’s third field goal of the half put the game out of reach at 16-6.

With 58 seconds left in the half, Tennessee took control and decided not to take a knee. Three plays later, Hilliard found a hole in the centre of the field, juked safety Devin McCourty, and went 68 yards for a score. New England had allowed the longest score of the season.
