South Korean actor Yuh-Jung Youn, in her acceptance speech after winning the Oscar for best-supporting actress, flirted with Brad Pitt, who was also a host for the Oscars 2021. Youn won the award for her role in the film ‘Minari’. 

Brad Pitt was one of the producers of Minari, 

a film about a  family of South Korean immigrants who try to make it in the rural United States during the 1980s.

Accepting the award Youn, jokingly turned towards Brad Pitt and said,” Nice to finally meet you, Brad Pitt. Where were you when we were shooting?” The ‘Once upon a time in Hollywood’ actor, who was standing in the wings, chuckled.

She said that many throughout the world have badly botched the pronunciation of her name, but “tonight you are all forgiven.”

Talking about her career and the award, Youn added, “I’ve had a long career built step by step. Nothing happened bam, like this, and this award is so very happy to get. In our field we’re comparing different movies so I’m just lucky tonight. And maybe some American hospitality!”

Yuh-Jung Youn became the first Korean actor to win an Academy Award. It was the first Oscar nomination in a career that spans five decades.

Others nominated in the same category were Olivia Colman, Amanda Seyfried, Maria Bakalova and Glenn Close.
