In the 38-second video clip, which was shared on Instagram, the woman was seen under the waterfall feeding a pair of spider monkeys.
Soon after the video went viral, the officials with the El Paso Zoo said that they were investigating the incident and intended to press charges against the woman for breaching security.
“These are primates we are talking about, they could do some substantial damage to you. They may be small monkeys, but can take you to the ground if they want to,” a zookeeper said, reported KVIA news.
Meanwhile, Lovett Law Firm in El Paso identified the woman as one of its employees and said she has been fired from the job.
