The nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards or Oscars were announced by Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband and singer Nick Jonas last month. The nominations were announced for 23 categories. While many veterans earned their well-expected calls for the elite Hollywood award show, several new filmmakers got their first-time nods. 

Here is a list of key first-time nominations for Oscars 2021:

  •  Lakeith Stanfield – Best Supporting Actor category (Judas and the Black Messiah)
  • Leslie Odom Jr. -Best Supporting Actor category (One Night in Miami)
  •  Paul Raci – Best Supporting Actor category (The Sound Metal)
  • Amanda Seyfried – Best Supporting Actress (Mank)
  • Yuh-Jung Youn- Best Supporting Actress (Minari)
  • Chadwick Boseman- Best Actor (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom)
  • Steven Yuen- Best Actor (Minari) 

  • Riz Ahmed – Best Actor (The Sound of Metal)
  •  Andra Day- Best Actress (The United States vs. Billie Holiday)
  • Vanessa Kirby- Best Actress (Pieces of a Woman)

The 2021 Oscar ceremony will take place jointly between Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre and downtown LA’s Union Station. Only presenters, nominees and limited guests will be able to attend the award function at the venue. The virtual event will take place on April 26.
