The suspect in the attack on Paul Pelosi, David Depape, had previously sent “really disturbing” emails to a lady he knew and was “out of touch with reality,” with the intent to do a lot of harm.

The 42-year-old guy who allegedly broke into Nancy Pelosi‘s San Francisco house and assaulted her husband was named by the San Francisco Police Department on Friday.

Linda Schneider stated she knew Depape in Berkeley, California, several years ago. Schneider stated that Depape would occasionally housesit for her while living in a storage unit. Schneider admitted that Depape had sent her “really disturbing” emails. Depape’s emails, according to Schneider, made him appear “out of touch with reality,” and they also explored “biblical justification to do harm.” She eventually halted her communication with Depape because “it seemed so dangerous,” as per CNN.

The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation. The Speaker and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time,” Hammill stated.

During a press conference on Friday, San Francisco Police Chief William Scott stated that officers were called to Pelosi’s home at roughly 2:30 a.m. time zone. Officers discovered Depape and Pelosi brandishing a hammer when they arrived.
