Hyattsville Police Department confirmed reports of a shooting at PG mall in Maryland

They have now declared that there is no “active threat” but people are advised to continue avoiding the area. One man, identified as Stanley Ramey of District Heights was found dead on the scene.

As per local reports, police are still hunting for a suspect and trying to discern the sequence of events leading up to the shooting.

“Hyattsville Police confirm a shooting death at the Mall at Prince George’s around 4:00 p.m. The victim was a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers do not believe this was a random act. The mall and surrounding areas are secure”, they tweeted, adding that detectives have arrived to investigate further and identify the shooter. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the authorities. 

The Mall at Prince Georges, earlier known as Prince Georges Plaza, saw police on scene investigating a shooting inside, as per Code3DMV, which covers incidents in the Washington area and beyond. 

Another account, Killmoenews1, which says it covers news in real time for the District of Columbia, noted “one person dead and a woman injured”.

A Twitter user claimed that the shooting took place in the food court. 

Another user added, “Sooooo the day I’m literally craving an Ice Ice baby && California Grill, they wanna be shooting in Pg mall AGAIN!”. 

One person on Twitter said they heard helicopters outside, while another remarked that they were locked in the back room of Ulta, a beauty store at the mall. 

In June 2022, there was another shooting at the Mall at Prince Georges which left one man – DaQuan Dockery – dead. Two 16-year-olds were arrested in connection to the incident.
