One person has been in critical condition while three have been wounded in a has an explosion in Maryland’s Baltimore district. The explosion happened in the Pikesville area, according to US media reports.

Recent updates from authorities suggest that the fire is still burning, however, efforts of containment are in full swing. Hazmat crew is present on the scene and is monitoring air quality in nearby areas.

According to tweets from the Baltimore Fire Department, while multiple patients have been found at the scene, one has been transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. 

While multiple neigbouring homes have been evacuated, the fire department continues to contain the fire and prevent any further loss.

The Baltimore Gas and Electric company is aiding the fire department in containment efforts. According to the tweet, the BGE is “working to shut off gas”.
