Pokemon is set to collaborate with singer Katy Perry in a new music program celebrating its 25th anniversary, reported People Magazine. Titled ‘P25 Music,’ the program will feature “surprise global activations” throughout the year.

The Pokemon company released a 2-minute video at the end of which, fans got a teaser of new music from Perry. In the video, a Poke Ball tapped a record player and a new Katy Perry song began playing. Names of the other musicians who are part of the project are yet to be revealed.

Perry said, “I love being a part of anything that is playful and is good storytelling and has really good messages to share with the world.”

She added, “Now having a child myself, I understand that it’s so important to play. This is a continued extension of who I am.”

According to Perry, she could relate to ‘Pikachu’ who is her favourite Pokemon. She said, “I’m really attached to the hero. I know there are others in the game, but I just found Pikachu to be really cute.”

“I understand the story of Pikachu. On the surface, you might just think I’m just cute, have a couple of cute songs, but if you dig deeper, you’ll realize ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ is not just a fun little song,” Perry added.

The Pokemon Company is planning to celebrate its 25th anniversary with several projects. It has already made a collaboration with the International Space Station featuring Rayquaza and Pikachu. Several new anniversary special products and a collaboration with ‘Pokemon Go’ is expected as well.
