Biden’s speech came hours after he was declared the winner of one of the most turbulent presidential race in the US. At the age of 77, Biden, who had earlier run two times for the presidency, will be the oldest person to swear in as the President of the United States.

“That (COVID-19 task force) plan will be built on bedrock science, will be constructed out of compassion, empathy, and concern. I will spare no effort, none, or any commitment to turn around this pandemic,” the president-elect said.

In his victory speech, Biden said, “I pledge to unify this country and will work for all and for the United States of America,” and vowed to “make America respected around the world again.”
