Prince William and Kate Middleton flew into Boston on a commercial flight from London, landing in the pouring rain on Wednesday, November 30.

Pictures of them on the British Airways flight to Boston went viral after Tiffany Chan, a local reporter posted them on social media. William and Kate, both looking animated, could be seen interacting with the crowd on the flight. According to her description, they were telling the crowd in the First Class why they were traveling to Boston.

“Passengers I spoke with applauded the Royal couple’s decision to fly commercial,” Chan wrote in a followup tweet. Twitter could not stop singing praises for the royal couple for sacrificing their luxurious flying habits and trading them for commercials to promote their noble agenda.

“Love that they flew commercial! Nothing is beneath them!” one of the Twitter users wrote, while another said, “God love them, making that sacrifice.” One more noted, “Meghan and Harry would have had First cleared of peasants.”

Another quipped, “Brilliant. No private jets. No fuss. A modern royal family. Toned down and tuned in.” Another said, “These two are the future of our Royal Family an I can honestly tell you. They have knocked out the park what an amazing thing to do while on the plane.”

The couple was cheered on by crowds outside City Hall, all of whom had braved the weather to greet them.

Kate stunned in a Burberry dress and a coat by McQueen. Addressing the waiting crowds, William said: “Thank you to the hardy Bostonians for braving the rain. Catherine and I are absolutely delighted to be with you today, for our first engagement in the great city of Boston, as we start the countdown to The Earthshot Prize Awards this Friday.”

This is their first tour of the country since 2014. It will culminate in the royal couple presenting the £50 million Earth shot prize for contributions to environmentalism.
