Three Republican legislators from Tennessee have introduced a bill that would require President Joe Biden’s administration to consult in advance with state and local officials regarding migrant resettlement.

US Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty and US Congressman Chuck Fleischmann have submitted the Migrant Resettlement Transparency Act, which will require the Secretaries of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services to work with governors and mayors before resettling, transporting or relocating the migrants in their regions.

“Over half a million illegal aliens have been apprehended since President Biden took office,” Blackburn said, adding that the Biden administration has been caught using a Chattanooga airport to secretly traffic migrant children into the interior of the US.

Hagerty said, “Tennesseans have a right to know if the federal government is resettling migrants in their communities.”

“I’m proud to join with Senators Hagerty and Blackburn to address this issue and require disclosure from the federal government,” Fleischmann said.

Last week, the three legislators sent a letter to HHS and DHS secretaries calling for transparency after reports that the US government has been settling illegal unaccompanied minors to Tennessee.
