Politico did a profile on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ wife, Casey which was published on Friday, catapulting her into the limelight, as the force behind her husband’s political ambition.

A number of insiders and other influential people who have bore witness to the kind of relationship that Ron and Casey share, spoke to the outlet, revealing that she has had a significant hand in “shaping him, in driving him … it’s different.” A Republican lobbyist told Politico, “She’s the power behind the throne. The tip of the spear.” Roger Stone, who has always been a Trump loyalist said, “Have you ever noticed how much Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey is like Lady Macbeth?”

Casey is a former television personality, a breast cancer survivor, and a mother of three young kids. Some have even called her and Ron, “The DeSanti” meaning that a single entity. Here is their relationship timeline:

2006

The pair met back in 2006 at the driving range at the University of North Florida. Recalling their first meeting, Ron wrote in his recent book, “She was dressed in classy golf attire and was generating an impressive amount of clubhead speed.”

2009

2012

“He doesn’t make small talk easily, but Casey was always with him and she filled that gap,” Bev Slough, one of the other candidates, told Politico. “He put so much emphasis on her. Every single speech he ever made, he almost always led off with her, or within two minutes he had mentioned her.”

She made sure to go door-to-door appealing for votes on her husband’s behalf. “She was who impressed people really more than him,” former Jacksonville mayor John Delaney said in 2020. Ron even joked at the time, saying, “People probably think they’re voting for Casey.”

2013

She was the one who introduced him at his first town hall.

2014

She accompanied him on a congressional trip to Israel. Even as she gave birth to their first child, she began co-hosting a midday talk show for First Coast News. According to Rep. Matt Gaetz, she even taught her husband how to apply makeup on his face. She became his media strategist

“She was looped in on every email and calendar invite,” a former staffer told Vanity Fair last year. “If Casey said jump, we would pull out the trampoline.”

2018

 During Ron’s first run for governor, Casey introduced him at his announcement event in January, She also gave birth to their second child in March.

Casey became less and less involved in her husband’s political decisions as the pandemic began. She also gave birth to their third child.
