Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani believes Donald Trump will run for president again in 2024, reports the New York Post.

“My instinct is he’s running,” Giuliani told the newspaper. “I have known him for a long time. I see what he’s doing and how he’s preparing and he sounds to me like a man who is excited about the possibility of running.”

Giuliani, 77, was eager to point out that Trump hasn’t specifically told him about his plans, nor has he asked, but he is “much more confident than not.”

Trump reportedly teased a presidential run for years before finally pulling the trigger in 2016.

Giuliani, Trump’s lifelong friend and confidant, served as his personal attorney and worked closely with him during the difficult days following his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

The former mayor has recently been engaged as a surrogate for his son Andrew Giuliani in the GOP governor nomination race.

The former president, who has spent months at his Mar-a-Lago golf resort in Florida, has taken moves to indicate his interest in running for president again. In March, his “Save America” political action organisation claimed more than $110 million in the bank – more than the Democratic and Republican National Committees combined.

According to recent polls, Trump leads both Biden and Vice President Harris in a prospective 2024 election. After leaving office, the former president has also routinely led the Conservative Political Action Conference Straw Poll, a reliable indicator of grassroots excitement.

A string of primary victories for Trump-backed candidates this week, most notably J.D. Vance in Ohio, has also demonstrated Trump’s staying power among the GOP base.

According to rumours and insiders, an announcement might be made this year if Republicans do well in the 2022 midterm elections.

“We feel very good about it,” a Trump confidante said, adding that the former president was “seriously considering” a political comeback, reported the New York Post.

”We’re looking at it very carefully,” the source added in conversation with the newspaper. “It’s about the comeback. It’s not the history books. You can’t cancel him.”
